Embraced by Nature

The FEFU Medical Center on Russky Island, designed by Jacobs, is a state-of-the-art teaching hospital that expertly combines advanced medical technology with a nurturing, biophilic environment.

The hospital is organized around a series of public spaces that foster community and support healing. These communal areas incorporate natural elements, promoting well-being through biophilic design.

Patients benefit from stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and easy access to adjacent natural spaces. This integration of nature creates a serene atmosphere that enhances patient recovery.

The building’s form responds to the topography to provide breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. It features two distinct buildings: a teaching hospital and a medical school, linked by a sky bridge. The hospital’s long form includes large transparent spaces that support a rich variety of patient services. These areas are filled with natural daylight and biophilia offering a warm and healing environment. The light stone façade complements the surrounding wooded landscape, creating a striking visual presence.
