Making Small Big

DOXworks skillfully transformed a 1,700-square-foot workers’ cottage in Cambridgeport, expanding it to 2,400 square feet.

The project included a significant basement expansion, incorporating foundation and waterproofing upgrades that created a fully usable floor.

Originally built in the late 1800s, the house had been divided into two 1-bedroom apartments in the 1970s. DOXworks meticulously reconfigured the space, transforming it into a contemporary 4-bedroom, 3-bathroom single-family home.

This redesign seamlessly integrated modern living requirements while preserving the home’s historical character, striking a thoughtful balance between the new and the old. The renovation was executed in three distinct phases, all while the house remained occupied. This approach highlighted DOXworks’ exceptional planning and sensitivity to the family’s daily life, showcasing our commitment to client comfort and our ability to manage complex project conditions.
