Celebrating the Past
Located in Boston’s historic Downtown Crossing, this project revitalizes the former Boston Evening Transcript headquarters, a site also notable as Benjamin Franklin’s birthplace.
Gensler, serving as the architect, designed an interstitial building that unifies the existing structures, seamlessly integrating their floorplans and aligning their floor heights. This thoughtful design approach not only preserves the historic significance of the site but also brings it into the modern era.
The project features state-of-the-art infrastructure and enhanced building systems, ensuring the property meets contemporary standards for efficiency and comfort.
A beautifully restored façade pays homage to the building’s storied past while elevating its appeal to modern tenants. The revitalization has significantly increased the property’s value, making it a prime location in one of Boston’s most vibrant neighborhoods. Anchoring the retail space are popular establishments like Shake Shack and Greco, which benefit from the heavy foot traffic in Downtown Crossing. This project exemplifies how thoughtful design can bridge history and modernity, creating a space that honors the past while catering to present-day needs.
